Presiding judge Hiras Sihombing said the defendant had been found guilty of smuggling 579.6 grammes of crystal methamphetamine, locally known as shabu shabu, from Malaysia into North Sumatra.
“Therefore, the defendant has convincingly violated the Anti-Narcotics Law,” he said on Thursday. Tipan was arrested with drugs found in her shoes and in bodily orifices.
Tipan’s lawyer, Chandra Sitio, said he had to consult with the Thai embassy before issuing any statement regarding an appeal.
