The accident happened at The Mall Bang Kapi last month.
The national police chief’s adviser on forensic science, Pol General Jaramporn Suramanee, said the car was working fine.
He said the victim was possibly trying to hit the brake, but couldn’t and the top of the bottle was pressing on the accelerator, causing the car to rev up.
He also said that oil traces found at the scene came from a power steering wheel, and since the car’s steering wheel was fine, it could not be related to the accident.
Urging people not to place water bottles or shoes on floor of the car as they could jam the brakes, Jarampong said car parks should have reinforced fencing so it does not buckle under a car’s impact. He added that this should be imposed as a municipality regulation in the future.
