Pheu Thai politician summoned over Facebook post

SINGTHONG Buachum, a member of Pheu Thai Party, was summoned to meet First Army commander Lt-General Kampanat Ruddit yesterday after posting comments on social media saying former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra had been told to refrain from talking to

In a comment on Facebook, Singthong said that after being impeached by the National Legislative Assembly on Friday Yingluck was told by the National Council for Peace and Order to refrain from holding a press conference.
The Pheu Thai member revealed this to the media.
Yesterday, Singthong drove to the First Army Region command centre and was told to park his car at the Royal Plaza. He was then driven away in a military vehicle with dark windows.
Later, a stressed looking Singthong walked away from the press, saying he could not say much as he still had to meet the First Army commander.
Kampanat then called a press conference at the Royal Thai Army Headquarters, saying he had summoned Singthong not to intimidate him, but to talk to him. He said the politician talked to the military and the media differently, and since Singthong had been making damaging comments, he felt the politician should be given an explanation of the situation and circumstances.
Kampanat said Singthong would not be detained or sent to a camp for attitude adjustment, adding that he did not speak to the politician directly but via other personnel because he did not want to ruin the reconciliation atmosphere. He said if people did not try to provoke conflict, they would not be invited for such talks.
