Six hurt by small bomb in Pattani

Four Border Patrol Police and two civilians were injured by a roadside bomb in Pattani's Sai Buri district yesterday.

The border police were providing security to monks from Wat Noenpha Lokaram who were collecting alms when the bomb hidden in a garbage can went off in Tambon Talubun municipality at 6.30am.
The injured were identified as Police Lieutenant Samnao Pimpat, Police Senior Sergeant Major Wichian Phromtip, Police Lieutenant Wirat Wasu and Police Sub-Lieutenant Wanchana Khamsen as well as a retired teacher Yusoh Kayee and villager Eium Anupramok.
Colonel Pramote Promin, spokesman for Internal Security Operations Command Region 4’s front command, said later the roadside bomb was an “extremist’s inhumane action” to destroy the peace in the southern border provinces, as well as the region’s economy and state agencies’ credibility.
