TUESDAY, APRIL 07, 2015

Russia Beyond The Headlines (RBTH) Monday published a special English-language digest supplement at events attended by representatives of the governments of Russia and Thailand, at business forums, festivals, and at the Russian Embassy in Thailand.

The special digest supplement was distributed on the occasion of the official visit of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to Thailand.
Rossiyskaya Gazeta, the official publisher, publishes English-language supplements regularly in The Nation and Phuket Gazette since 2013.

According to Kirill Barsky, Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Thailand, “this special insert, telling the local audience about Russia and Russian-Thai relations, will contribute to the creation of a better image of our country, and revive interest in it. Moreover, given the current situation when Western media is practically waging an information war against Russia, this will become a means for dispelling the fables being spread by the West.”

The content in the digest was based on a recent survey from readers in Thailand. Additional information about the preferences of the Thai audience were collected from a related survey from RBTH Asia-pacific website asia.rbth.com . Gleb Fedorov, executive editor of RBTH supplements in Thailand and senior editor, said in its first month alone the website registered 100,000 unique visitors. Most visitors are from Australia, India and the ASEAN countries.

“Our project’s audience in the Asian market is growing daily. Recent studies indicated that by the end of 2014, the total audience of RBTH websites and printed supplements in the Asia-Pacific Region (Japan, South Korea, China, Thailand, India, and Indonesia) reached 12 million people. Such an important indicator of efficiency, as the awareness level, of readers of RBTH partner newspapers, about our supplements in these publications was 63%,” says Yevgeny Abov, Project Manager of Russia Beyond the Headlines. “Moreover, more than 76% of the readers of Asian applications and websites believe that RBTH helps them increases their knowledge about Russia. This is great stimulus for us to expand the product line of RBTH, in order to meet the needs of the audiences, the interests of our partners, and customers in these countries.”
