Generating activities unaffected by Myanmar's gas fields shutdown

Thailand's electricity generating activities on April 16 were unaffected by the shutdown of Yadana and Zawtika gas fields in Myanmar, according to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand.

The two gas fields are shut down for maintenance during April 10-27.
Egat added that in the first 7 days of the shutdown, power consumption peaked at 21,098.9 megawatts.
It is below Thailand’s record peak at 27,056.8MW registered on April 7, 2015.
Egat noted that all power plants in the West of the country are operating as usual despite the shutdown.
It added that power consumption normally eases during the Songkran festival, but would peak around late April and early May. It urged all to cut down electricity use during 1pm-3pm and 6.30pm-8.30pm.
