Sansern said the monitoring room at the Government House would hold video conferences with the command centre of Supreme Command and the Thai embassy in Katmandu to coordinate efforts to help the quake victims and keep in touch with the situation as it evolves.
Sansern said the testing of the video conference signal had been successful and the monitoring room would start operations on Thursday. Thai rescue teams and an operation team from the embassy are currently inspecting the disaster scene.
The monitoring room will report progress of the operations to the prime minister and the Supreme Command on a daily basis, Sanern said, adding that the Thai government would continue to provide humanitarian aids to the quake victims until the situation improves.
