Thailand needs to prove its sincerity in tackling Rohingya issue: Udomdej

Deputy Defense Minister and Army chief Gen Udomdej Sitabutr said Monday that the government has to work harder to prove to the international community that Thailand has sincere intention to tackle the issue of human trafficking.

Thailand needs to prove its sincerity now that several Rohingya death camps have been discovered in southern border provinces.
Udomdej said Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has instructed the Army, the Internal Security Operations Command, the Royal Thai Police and the Interior Ministry to cooperate to tackle the problem as Thailand is the transit country of the smuggling efforts.
Udomdej said the Fourth Army Area Commander Lt Gen Prakarn Chonlayuth has been instructed to cooperate and exchange information with police on the issue.
“With the cooperation, we expect the situation will improve,” Udomdej said.
