NACC wants Satit charged and his gold items 'frozen'

A subcommittee of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has ordered that Bt179 million in gold valuables owned by former revenue chief Satit Rungkasiri be "frozen" on suspicion that he engaged in VAT (value-added tax) fraud.

The subcommittee’s probe suggested that Satit might have committed the offence while serving as director-general of the Revenue Department, NACC secretary-general Sansern Poljieak said yesterday.
He said the panel chaired by NACC member Pakdee Pothisiri had concluded that Satit should be charged and the commission would look into the decision soon.
“In addition, the NACC has set up another subcommittee to look into Satit’s alleged unusual wealth,” Sansern said.
