Government will begin savings fund on August 20

The government will begin the National Savings Fund scheme on August 20, Deputy Government Spokesman Maj Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd affirmed yesterday.

The project – to promote saving among people who don’t have pensions, such as farmers, daily workers and freelancers – would see the government contribute up to Bt13,200 per year until the participants reach 60. 
People can apply for the scheme by presenting their Thai national identity cards at Krungthai Bank, Government Savings Bank, Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives branches nationwide, he said.
