The boy was continually crying.
Following a Thai social media circle’s sharing of information on the boy’s disappearance since August 11, rescue workers and police finally found the body in a ditch behind Ban Samphu School in Lom Sak district on Tuesday afternoon.
A police investigation later resulted in 61-year-old Sanan Daengdongbang’s alleged confession. He said he was taking care of the children while his wife went out, but the boy would not stop crying and he was stressed out over his daughter’s action.
Police claim Sanan strangled the boy to death and hid the body in a wooded area about 500 metres from home.
He then pretended to help search for the “missing” boy, during which he moved the body to a ditch further into the woods, he told police. Sanan now faces charges of murder, moving a body to conceal a crime and filing a false report. He was later taken to re-enact the crime amid tight security while 1,000 onlookers cursed him.
