Sukhumbhand spoke after inspecting Klong Chaokhun Singh in Soi Lat Phrao 112 to see how 20cm-deep floodwater drained from Soi 100-116 via Klong Chaokhun Singh into Klong Saen Saeb and a Rama 9 tunnel.
Heavy rain on Sunday night caused many areas to flood. Sukhumbhand said Lat Phrao had an average rainfall of 70 millimetres per hour, while another report said Prawet district had the most rain at 121.5mm on Sunday night.
Meanwhile, rain-triggered overflows from Klong 12 in Pathum Thani’s Lam Lukka district yesterday inundated 40 canal-side homes and village roads with up to 40cm of water, prompting officials to dispatch 10 flat-bottom boats and mobile toilets to help affected residents.
