Tariff lines cut ahead of AEC

Asean countries have cut most of the intra-regional import duties, getting closer to their commitment towards free flows of goods under the Asean Economic Community framework.

According to the Asean Ingegration Report 2015 released today, Asean-6 nations (Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Singapore) have cut 99.2 per cent of their tariff lines at the end of 2014.
The rate for the other four countries - Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam - is 72.6 per cent and is expected to increase to 90.8 per cent this year.
