No matter how the result of the auction was, this would not affected Dtac plan and business goal in becoming the leading operator on both 4G and 3G services to meet the growing demand of high speed internet," Lars Norling, chief executive officer of Total Access Communication, said.
Dtac now operates 4G service on 1800MHz spectrum and on 2100MHz.
Dtac share price gained 4.50 per cent to Bt29 today, after losing 27 per cent or Bt10.25 on Monday.
The company announced today that it would add 2,200 4G cell sites on 1800 MHz in major provinces by early next year and expand 4G service on 2100 MHz coverage in 77 provinces by midyear. It said it still owns 2G, 3G and 4G spectrum of more than 35-40 per cent of the market available spectrum for private sectors.
Sigve Brekke, president and CEO of Telenor Group, said: “Telenor Group remains committed to the development of a digital Thailand and will continue to invest for the betterment of mobile services and internet for all. dtac has a strong position in the market and will be able to leverage its current spectrum portfolio to offer competitive 4G services in the years to come. We also encourage the regulator to establish a clear roadmap for utilization of spectrum including planning for auctioning of more licenses in the 1800MHz band along with the 850MHz, 700MHz and 2600MHz bands.”
It aims to have 4.5 million 4G subscribers by 2016, from 2.2 million this year.
