MEA to install underground cables in seven areas

Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) has continually planned to improve the reliability and develop the quality of our power distribution system, Accordingly, the following 7 additional projects to replace overhead Power lines with underground cables

1 Tiwanon-Chaeng Wattana Project
2 Lat Phrao-Ramkhamhaeng Project
3 Sam Sen- Chitralada Villa Royal Residence Project
4 Sathon-Charoen Rat Project
5 Wong Wian Yai-Arun Amarin Project
6 Theparak-Sukhumvit Project
7 Inner City Project                
The implementation of the projects will not affect our existing customers except for those applying for new power connections or those wishing to increase power supply to 12,000 Volts or more and located within 50 metres of the either of the announced roads. For these customers, it is necessary to prepare the site for installation of high-voltage protective devices and meters as well as for construction of manholes and underground conduits, in accordance with MEA handbook of electrical equipment guidance.  Customers wishing to use power supply of 12,000 or 24,000 Volts should contact MEA at least nine months prior to the anticipated date of use. For power supply of 69,000 or 115,000 Volts , customers should contact MEA at least 18 months prior to the anticipated date of use  and before purchasing any electrical equipment to ensure the system compatibility. These conditions are effective as of May 10, 2016 onwards
