Four killed when truck van of medical staffs

A medical team returning from performing a surgery in Pattaya was hit by a speeding truck after the team’s van broke down on the Bang Na Expressway late Thursday night.

The accident happened on the inbound expressway in Tambon Bangwua in Chachoengsao’s Bang Pakong district at 10:30 pm.
The team led by Doctor Sithiwat Intharkao, 37, was returning from performing a surgery for a special case in Pattaya when their van’s machine broke down.
The van driver, Prangthip Boonsathit, 36, parked the van on the leftmost lane and turned on the emergency light.
But a six-wheel truck, driven by Kriangkrai Kabai, 38, was speeding on the leftmost lane and could not stop the truck in time.
The truck hit the van, which in turn crushed five staffs who were waiting beside the van. Three of them were killed on the expressway. The other victim fell from the expressway and died on the ground highway.
The doctor was not injured because he was making a phone call in front of the van.
Another staff, Saengthong Assawathamwong, 46, was severely injured and she was rushed to the Chularat 11 Hospital.
The three other victims were identified as Kanyaphatchara Kaewbanjong, Woranit Hongsachart, 44, and Supat Wangpithakwong, 34.
