The scintillating 21-7 21-8 victory has earned Ratchanok, current world No.4 and fourth seed, a place in the semi-finals of the US$550,000 tournament, where she is due to challenge formidable Chinese Wang Yihan, world No.6 who clinched the last year's Chinese Taipei Open. Wang proved that her berth in the semi-finals was no fluke as she stunned world No.1 and defending and successive two-time world champion Carolina Marin from Spain in straight games 21-13 21-15.
Ratchanok has played Wang Yihan in nine matches and the Chinese won them all.
Meanwhile, another Thai hopeful Porntip Buranaprasertsuk crashed out from the quarter-finals on Friday after going down in gruelling three games 21-19 14-21 14-21 to world No.8 and third seeded Saina Nehwal from India.
