Prayut to focus on cyber, tourism during official India visit

PRIME MINISTER Prayut Chan-o-cha will pay an official visit to India from Thursday to Saturday with the focus on strengthening cyber cooperation and religious tourism.

Prayut’s trip is at the invitation of his counterpart Narendra Modi, Krerkpan Roekchamnong, director-general of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and Africa Affairs at the Foreign Ministry, said yesterday.
Prayut will meet with the Thailand team based in India on Thursday for policy discussions and assignments.
On Friday, Prayut and Modi will hold one-on-one and full-delegation talks, aiming to enhance cooperation in various areas including politics, security, culture, education, the war against drugs, information technology, and economy and trade, including acceleration of the Thai-Indian Free Trade Agreement.
After the talks, the two leaders will witness signings of two agreements on cultural cooperation and people-to-people communications.
Prayut, together with his wife Naraporn, is also scheduled to meet with Indian Vice President and Acting President Mohammad Hamid Ansari and his wife Salma on that day. 
He will also get together with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
Prayut will end his Friday schedule by attending a Thai-Indian business seminar and dinner to welcome Indian investors to the Thai private sector.
India will promote its Buddhist religious site Bodh Gaya as the centre of religious tourism and pilgrimages.
