Snake on train rattles passengers

Sydney - Passengers on a commuter train got a shock when a young man pulled a one-metre python out of his backpack to explain why the pack was wriggling, Australian police said Wednesday.

Some passengers were concerned for the welfare of the snake and called police who met the 20-year-old man at Woy Woy station, 80 kilometres north of Sydney.

He admitted that he did not have a permit for the jungle python, which can grow to more than two metres long.

Police confiscated the snake and asked experts from a nearby reptile park to examine it.
