Floods cause traffic snarls in Bangkok

Many Bangkok roads were hit with traffic snarls Thursday morning after torrential rains caused floodings in several parts of the capital and the nearby Samut Prakan province.

The floods also caused three schools in Samut Prakan to cancel classes for a day Thursday.
The three schools are Saint Joseph Thiphawan School, Rajvinit Bangkae and Assumption Samut Prakan schools. They announced the class cancellation on the schools' Facebook pages.

The areas hit by shallow floods of between 20 to 30cm water included the Sukhapibal 1 inrersection, the road in front of The Mall Bang Kapi, the Rama IV road next to the Bangkok-Chon Buri motorway, the Pattanakarn Intersection, and the Ratchadapisek Road in front of the Criminal Court.
At 2 am, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration announced that 25 areas were hit by shallow floods and the city administration has drained 14 spots.

The BMA reported that the areas still under water were a part of Pattanakarn Road near the intersection, Prachasuk Road, the Ratchadapisek Road in front of Bangkok Bank, Dindaeng Road in front of Soi Sutthiporn, Ngam Wong Wan Road in front of Pongphet market, Saphan Kwai Intersectin, Bangkhen Roundabout, Soi Chinnaket on Ngam Wong Wan Road, the Kaset Intersection, Prachasongkroah Road in front of Huay Kwang Market, Kaset-Sena Intersection, Ratchada-Lard Prao Intersection, Phaholyothin Road in front of Amornphan Market, Lard Prao Road in front of Soi 113, Krung Thep Kritha Road, Mitr Samphan Intersection, the front of Soi Baring, and Pattanakarn Road in front of True Corp office.
