Foreigner in custody may have links to terror networks

A FOREIGNER has been detained on suspicion of having links to terror networks or the gang providing fake passports to suspects involved in the Erawan Shrine bomb blast.

The male foreigner, Kwak Ti Ha, was arrested with two Myanmar women at a house in the border province of Tak yesterday.
Immigration Police, in collaboration with the Armed Forces Security Centre (AFSC) and a local military task force, surrounded and raided the house in the heart of Tak’s Mae Sot district after receiving a tip.
Last year, a blast rocked the Erawan Shrine in Bangkok, killing 20 people and injuring 125. Although authorities have issued arrest warrants for many suspects, only two have been arrested. They are Meiraili Yusufu and Bilal Mohammed.
As of press time, there has been no official confirmation on whether Kwak Ti Ha had anything to do with the Erawan Shrine explosion.
An informed source, however, said he had confessed to assisting illegal migrants from evading arrest by Thai authorities.
“AFSC officials have brought him to Bangkok for further questioning,” the source said.
According to the source, the two other suspects are Sambi, 32, and Rahaybi, 23. The women have confessed to illegally entering Thailand.
