Volunteers making rice packs

State officials and volunteers have offered to help in the packaging of rice souvenir bags known as Khao Por Phiang, which are being produced at a rate of 20,000 a day.

The Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister Office initiated the idea to produce the rice bags to give to mourners who come to pay respects to His Majesty the King before the Royal Urn and his body at the Grand Palace as a reminder of the King’s development of agriculture and his sufficiency economy philosophy.
Khao Por Phiang means “sufficiency rice”. The King introduced the sufficiency economy philosophy starting in 1997, with the agricultural sector being the focus.
