Full support for plan of action against Phra Dhammachayo: Prawit

Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan said Thursday that he fully supported Justice Minister General Paiboon Koomchaya’s next move, be it arresting Pathum Thani’s Wat Dhammakaya abbot, Phra Dhammachayo, or any other action.

This comment was in response to the public prosecutors’ announcement on Wednesday that they had decided to indict the monk and four others on charges of conspiring to as well as laundering money and receiving stolen assets linked the Klongchan Credit Union Cooperative (KCUC) embezzlement case.
The prosecutors have also urged the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to arrest Phra Dhammachayo and another suspect Sasithorn Chokprasit before the statute of limitations for the 2009 crime expires in 2024.
Prawit said he believed Phra Dhammachayo, who has failed to show up for DSI questioning on grounds of illness, is still in Thailand.
