Police suspect that they are Vietnamese people but they refused to talk to the authorities via an interpreter so their national could not be confirmed at press time.
The 11 are two men, four women, two boys and three girls.
They were spotted walking on a remote road along the border and they were initially taken to the 1201st Ranger Company for questioning.
The authorities also found 345 US$-100 banknotes and Bt12,000 in cash on the three men. At first, the authorities suspected the US-dollar notes were fake as they looked rather new. But they checked with a bank at the Rongklua market and bank officials confirmed the US banknotes were authentic.
Three of them were found to be carrying Vietnamese identification cards.
The 11 immigrants were later handed over to the Klongluek police station for further legal action and deportation.
