WBC champ Srisaket given hero's welcome

Newly-crowned WBC superflyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai touched down in the capital on Tuesday after he captured the imagination of Thai people with his historic win over previously-unbeaten Roman Gonzalez at Madison Square Garden at the weekend.

The Si Sa Ket native was given a warm reception at the Suvarnabhumi airport by a large group of supporters and his family after becoming only the second Thai fighter to win the world championship of the sport's three major organisations on American soil with a majority decision victory to reclaim the 115-pound title that he lost three years ago.
