Bangkok sets six royal barge viewing sites for November 6

Bangkok’s seating plan totals 7,400 places for the Royal Barge Procession, with five screens showing live coverage at four riverside locations.

  • Bangkok has designated six official viewing locations along the Chao Phraya River for the Royal Barge Procession on November 6, providing a total of 7,400 seats.
  • The largest viewing site will be beneath the Rama VIII Bridge with seating for 4,000 people, while other locations include Santichaiprakan Park and Siriraj Hospital.
  • In addition to the seating, five large LED screens will be installed at four of the riverside locations to provide live coverage of the procession.
  • Preparations for the event include cleaning the river, decorating embankments with flags, and clearing the waterway of debris and weeds.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has outlined seating for 7,400 spectators at six locations along the Chao Phraya River for the Royal Barge Procession on November 6, 2026.

The Royal Barge Procession forms part of the royal Kathin robe-offering ceremony held in honour of Her Majesty the Queen’s fourth-cycle, or 48th, birthday anniversary on June 3.

Bangkok deputy governor Wisanu Subsompon inspected riverside preparations by boat on November 2, accompanied by BMA deputy permanent secretaries Phitsamai Ruangsilp and Jessada Chantharaprapha, along with officials from relevant city agencies. The inspection covered the stretch from Wat Rachathiwat Pier in Dusit district to Wat Prayurawongsawat Worawihan Pier in Thon Buri district.

  2. Santichaiprakan Park: 1,500

In its November 2 update, the BMA identified 15 public viewing locations overall: seven on the Phra Nakhon, or eastern, bank and eight on the Thon Buri, or western, bank.

The BMA separately listed its responsibility for preparing venues and seating at Wat Rachathiwat, Santichaiprakan Park, Thammasat University, the area beneath Rama VIII Bridge and two locations at Siriraj Hospital.

Bangkok cleans and decorates the riverside

The BMA is cleaning and decorating the Chao Phraya riverside, refurbishing embankments and clearing the waterway ahead of the Royal Barge Procession. Preparations include:

- Decorating river embankments with fabric drapes, Thai national flags and flags bearing the royal anniversary emblem.

- Refurbishing and repainting embankment walls.

- Collecting rubbish and removing weeds and floating debris from the river.

- Installing buoys and floating barriers to prevent water hyacinth from drifting into the procession route.
