Two killed, three injured in Phang Nga pileup

A couple was killed and three people seriously injured in an accident on Thursday involving two sedan cars and two pickup trucks in Phang Nga. The accident happened in the afternoon at an intersection in the province’s Thai Muang district, police said.
The dead couple were identified as Pol Lieutenant Decha Naduang, 59, and his wife, Chanrieng Boonsri, 61. The driver of their car, Phurithat Sroymas, 45, was severely injured.
The two other injured victims are Raruen Kongboon, 62, and her daughter, Lakkhana Kongboon 41, who were travelling in another sedan car on the opposite side of the road.
Police said the couple’s car was making a turn into a village road when it was hit on the rear by a speeding pickup, sending the car spinning into the opposite lane where it was hit by the car with the mother and daughter. The mother and daughter’s car was in turn hit by a pickup truck that was driving behind it.
The drivers of the two pickups were not injured.
