Military, police step up cooperation targeting illegal weapons

National Council for Peace and Order secretary general Chalermchai Sitthisart, who is also the Army chief, has instructed military security officers to work more closely with police to more effectively locate weapons held by ill-intentioned people, said NCPO deputy spokeswoman Colonel Sirichan Nga-thong.

This is to prevent unfortunate incidents happening, she added.
This month police and the military conducted a joint raid on a house in Pathum Thani province and discovered weapons allegedly belonging to red shirt leader Wuttipong "Ko Tee" Kottham-makhun.
Authorities alleged that the weapons were related to assassination plots hatched against some leaders, and were also involved in past political demonstrations.
