Saifon Moolchan, from Chaiyaphum, even refused to hand over the smartphone to police when officers met her at a bar on Soi New Plaza in Pattaya, and was taken to the Pattaya police station.
The phone’s owner, Neungruethai Naga, 34, filed a complaint at the police station at 2.30am on Friday, saying she had lost her phone in a 7-Eleven store. She had called her phone and talked to a woman who found it but who refused to return it.
Neugruethai said Saifon instead demanded Bt5,000 for the phone’s return, but she was willing to give her only Bt1,000.
Saifon told police that she did not steal the phone. She insisted that as she had found it, she could demand any price from the owner.
