“Man versus Snake” boxing matches along with displays of live snakes are among attractions as part of Songkran celebrations that will last until April 17 at Ban Khok Sa-Nga Cobra Village in Khon Kaen province.

In each boxing match, a trained showman will fight with a four- or five-metre-long cobra, Thai Cobra Association president Pang Phramuang said.
The celebrations at Tambon Sai Mun in Nam Pong district began on Wednesday with a nine-part beautifully decorated parade featuring villagers carrying large snakes. A “snake daughter” beauty contest was also held.
Ban Khok Sa-Nga Cobra Village is known for the villagers' unique way of make a living by rearing snakes and running cobra shows after the harvest season for visitors.
