Some Article 44 orders are now void, says Wissanu

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam on Thursday said at least 10 to 20 orders under Article 44 of the now-defunct interim charter have been nullified.

The enforcement of the absolute power under Article 44 by the head of the National Council for Peace and Order, is still guaranteed under a new article in the new charter.
Concerned political observers continue to demand that it should be scrapped following the promulgation of the new charter.
Wissanu said officials are in the process of reviewing the necessity of Article 44 but this may only mean some orders made under the article are void.
