They appeared before a judge on Monday (June 5) after prosecutors decided to indict them on charges including premeditated murder, conspiracy to commit deadly assault and carrying weapons in a public place.
Thirapong Thitatharn was killed in his dormitory room in Phetchaburi’s Cha-am district on February 25.
Charged in connection with the crime are Kornkanok Waranyasathit, 22, Dechathorn Mulsri, 20, Chalinthorn Kaensan, 20, Yannawat Thipthiangthae, 19, Rewat Wongkhayai, 20, Krittanat Niem-ngern, 20, Settha Upatham, 26, Theerapat Phothisut, 19 Theerathanont Thapnak, 20, Pakhin Suanak, 18, Supasit Deetuam, 20, Athibodi Kunjaethong, 21, Chinnakit Atthawanthon, 18, and Marisa Ngernthong, 20.
Thirteen of the accused can be released pending trial if they post Bt700,000 in bail and agree not to tamper with evidence or witnesses. So far only one, Kornkanok, has posted bail.
The court denied bail release for Dechathorn, whose father is a police deputy superintendent in Kalasin.
Prosecutors say the accused broke into the dorm room and assaulted two male friends and Thirapong. He was stabbed in the head with a sharpened screwdriver and died in hospital on March 2.
Kornkanok, Dechathorn, Yannawat, Settha, Theerapat, Theerathanont, Supasit and Chinnakit are accused of intending to kill Thirapong, the others of intending to assault him.
