More than 2,000 Thai Muslims, with children, attended special Eid al-Fitr prayers at the Nakhon Yala Municipality’s Youth Centre Stadium in the Muang district of Yala province on Sunday.

Eid ul-Fitr, or Hari Raya Puasa as it is known locally, marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting, and is celebrated by Muslims worldwide. In the Muslim-majority deep South, where it is an official holiday, Monday will be a make-up holiday as Eid ul-Fitr falls on Sunday.

In Songkhla's Muag district, 300 Thai Muslim people perform the Eid al-Fitr prayer at a scenic seaside spot of Chalathat Beach.
