General Prayut Chan-o-cha on Friday experienced what it means to be the prime minister when he tried sitting in the “Uncomfortable chair” during a visit to the new Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC) at the Grand Postal Building in the capital’s Bang Rak district.

Designed specifically for Prayut, designers said the chair represented the premier’s working style through the use of wood and metal to show his strength but also how he had received support from the people.
“The chair is really uncomfortable, like democracy that has obstacles,” the premier said.
“The designer is right [to make uncomfortable] otherwise many people will want to become the PM. If you sit on a comfortable chair, you will be lazy,” he said.
