30,000 undocumented Myanmar workers repatriated via Mae Sot

More than 30,000 undocumented Myanmar workers have been repatriated via the Mae Sot border checkpoint in Tak since the new labour law came into effect, a senior immigration officer said.

Pol Colonel Man Ratanaprateep, the Tak immigration chief, confirmed the number on Saturday morning.
Man said Myanmar workers continued to return home to seek proper documents to meet the requirements of the new law.
The law took effect on June 23, although it will not be fully enforced until a grace period expires at the end of the year.
