Five Thais, 20 foreign tourists injured after bus loses control in Phuket

The driver of a bus carrying 17 Chinese tourists lost control going down Patong Mountain Road in Phuket and crashed into a van, a motorcycle and a tuk-tuk, injuring 25 people on Sunday night.

Police said the accident happened at 8.28pm at a notorious curve in the road.
Lt-Colonel Thirasak Boonsaeng, inspector of Patong Police Station, said the 17 Chinese tourists, as well as three Japanese tourists and five Thais, were injured.
The foreign tourists were slightly injured and most were discharged from hospital after receiving treatment. Only one Chinese tourist was admitted to hospital.
Three of the Thais - the bus driver, the van driver and a motorcyclist - were severely injured.
Thirasak said the bus’s air brakes malfunctioned.
