Phuket ‘middleman’ arrested over drugs sales
Phuket police have arrested a man for allegedly selling methamphetamine pills and crystal meth or “ice” on the island-province.
Thirapong Wong-anansup, 32, was arrested at his house in Tambon Rassada in Phuket’s Mueang district at 4pm Thursday.
Police had received tips that Thirapong kept drugs at his house to sell. Arriving at the house, they found Thirapong riding his motorcycle.
Police searched the man and found 50 meth pills and 2.1 grams of crystal meth in his trousers pocket. Police searched the house and found an additional 472 meth pills and 42.5 grams of crystal meth. Police also found two pistols and 161 rounds of ammunition in the house.
The man said he bought the drug from a friend in Bangkok for reselling.
Phuket police chief Pol Colonel Akanit Danphithaksat said the suspect is a major middleman who supplied the drugs to some 10 peddlers in the province.
