Student has judges under his spell
A student from Nakhon Si Thammarat has won the NJ Spelling Bee competition’s Southern round.
Tanapat Kaewkrajok, a student the city’s Benjamarachutit School, beat more than 500 candidates to win the contest.
In addition to the honour of being regional champion, he will also get Bt10,000 cash prize and a holiday to Taiwan.
Tanapat and the 24 runners-up in the Southern region’s contest, qualify to take part in the Grand National Final in November.
The latest quiz follows the North, whose regional contest was won by Chiang Mai student Patcharapat Chaijaroen earlier this month. The Northeastern and Central contests will be held soon.
NJ Spelling Bee has been popular among teenagers in Thailand for more than 20 years.
NJ Spelling Bee 2017 is organised by the Nation Group and NJ Digital sponsored by Magnolia Plus Ginkgo, Pipo Shake, and the US Embassy in Thailand and with the cooperation of many government and private-sector organisations.
