Homeowner, 75, badly burned in Samut Prakan fire

Homeowner, 75, badly burned in Samut Prakan fire

A 75-year-old Samut Prakan man suffered severe burns to his torso and arms early Monday when fire engulfed the second floor of the house where he lives alone.

The 5.30am blaze damaged much of the upper storey of the house on Soi TJC in Moo 2 village, Tambon Bang Pumai, Mueang district.
Neighbours used fire extinguishers and buckets of water to prevent the fire from spreading. Once
firefighters arrived, it took about an hour to fully control the blaze.
Police said the severely injured Boonlert Thiamsiri was rushed to Rattharin Bang Pu Hospital.
He later explained he’d been sleeping in his second-floor bedroom when burning embers falling on his bed awakened him.
He realised that the second floor was engulfed in flames and was injured while rushing downstairs. Unable to open the locked front door, he called for help and was rescued by neighbours.
