Officials from a charity foundation, who were alerted about the abandonment, rushed the baby girl to Lanna Hospital.
After the news spread, several people headed to the hospital to express their desire to adopt the girl.
“We have let them take a look at the girl through the glass wall outside the baby room,” the hospital’s marketing and communications chief, Jiralak Jankrajai, said.
She added that medical staff had checked the girl, who is in good health.
Officials from the Chiang Mai shelter are in the process of taking custody of the girl, who will probably be placed under the care of the Baan Vieng Ping orphanage.
