Crowds prepare for final procession in Royal Cremation

Since dawn on Sunday, mourners seated along the road in front of Bangkok’s Wat Bowonniwet Vihara are trying to get a close view of the final procession in the Royal Cremation Ceremony for HM the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The procession that begins at 4.30pm will culminate in the transfer of the late King’s Royal Ashes from the Temple of the Emerald Buddha to two key temples.
Some of the mourners had camped in the area since Saturday evening to ensure vantage points to view the procession of 77 cavalry troops, which would accompany the transfer of the Royal Ashes from the Phra Sri Rattana Chedi by a Royal Car to Wat Rajabopidh and Wat Bavoranives.
