SAMUT PRAKAN - The Corrections Department has joined forces with the Chiang Rai-based “Baan Dam Black House Museum” to have inmates trained as professional wood-carvers or leather craftsmen.

The MOU agrees to train inmates in the elaborate crafts through a programme drawing on national-level experts. The museum agreed to also allocate space within its compound to display and sell the inmates’ artworks.

The programme aims to provide a level of training that would qualify inmates for decent jobs after being released back to society and thus reduce the chances they would return to crime.
