Five Cambodians captured after going under wall at Sa Kaew

Sa Kaew immigration police on Friday captured four Cambodian men and one woman after allegedly going under the border wall in Aranyaprathet district into Thailand.

The five were arrested at 10am after emerging on the Thai side of the wall and heading to a carpark compound at the Golden Gate in Ban Klong Luek village.
Rangers and immigration officials at the Ban Klong Luek border checkpoint were waiting at the spot after the officials were alerted that a hole had been built there.
The five said they paid Bt700 each to a Cambodian broker who arranged for them to get to the wall. They said they were promised a job in Samut Prakan.
Sa Kaew police chief Pol Colonel Benjapol Rodsawat said the five were victims of a human trafficking gang in Cambodia so no action would be taken against them.
Police would simply record their names and deport them, he said.
Benjapol said the Sa Kaew immigration police would coordinate with their Cambodian counterpart to prevent smuggling gangs in Cambodia from making additional tunnels under the wall.
