Prachuap Khiri Khan Hospital appeals for blood donations

The director of Prachuap Khiri Khan Hospital on Monday appealed for members of the public to urgently donate blood as the hospital was failing to meet minimum storage requirements at its blood bank.

Dr Supachai Supaprueksakul said the hospital did not have 40 units of blood for each blood group in storage for emergencies.
The hospital has previously issued urgent pleas via community radio stations and Line donation groups appealing for supplies when reserves of certain blood types ran short.
Supachai said he hoped more people would donate blood to reserves in case of accidents, especially during the long Songkran holidays.
The provincial hospital has 280 beds and five operating theatres.
The latest review found that its blood bank had 13 units of O blood type, nine of A, 26 of B and 26 AB. Reserves of less than 10 units are considered as inadequate for major health facilities.
