NMG sponsors cycling event in Songkhla
Some 1,000 cyclists participated in the Nation Bike Thailand event in Songkhla province yesterday.
The event was held in Na Thawee district in collaboration with Nation Multimedia Group (NMG), which publishes The Nation, and the Songkhla Provincial Administrative Organisation.
“We promote cycling because it’s good for health,” NMG chief executive officer Somchai Meesen said at the event.
Songkhla Provincial Administrative Organisation’s president Nipon Boonyamanee said the event should highlight the district’s appeal as a tourist destination.
“There are many interesting attractions in the district, plus plenty of fruit orchards. The district’s history dates back to more than 400 years,” he added.
Yesterday’s event was scheduled to coincide with the 98th birthday of Privy Council President General Prem Tinsulanonda, who is a Songkhla native.
