Tokyo's Nikkei closes down 3.72% as global markets plunge

Tokyo's Nikkei plunged more than 3.7 percent on Thursday, after a punishing session on Wall Street that saw major US indices wipe out all their 2018 gains.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index gave up 3.72 percent or 822.45 points to 21,268.73 while the broader Topix index lost 3.10 percent or 51.15 points, to 1,600.92.
