Mother calls on police to probe 'suicides' of son, daughter-in-law

A mother on Thursday called on police to investigate the deaths of her son and her daughter-in-law who were found hanged by the same rope in a tapioca plantation in Lampang.

The mother, Phetchara Wongphabutr, 47, told police that she did not believe her son, Jaranthathinakorn Wongphabutr, 23, and his wife, Tippawan Simsome, 23, committed suicide.
The bodies of the couple were found hanged from both ends of the same rope that was tied to a tree branch near a creek in a tapioca plantation in Tambon Chomphu in Lampang's Muang district at 4pm on Wednesday.
The bodies were sent to Lampang Hospital.
Phetchara said the couple went to work in their plantation on Tuesday afternoon and left the plantation to buy baby diapers for their child. When they did not return home she went to check and found the bodies.
Phetchara said she did not believe her son and his wife committed suicide because they had no reason, they loved each other and did not quarrel.
She said their plantation also started making money as tapioca is ready for harvest.
