Two men killed as truck crashes into SUV

A Thai man and a Chinese man, who had pulled over to the side of a road in Pathum Thani province early on Sunday to attend to a call of nature and were returning to their Toyota Fortuner, were killed when a trailer truck crashed into their SUV.

The 24-year-old Pornnupol Pimngam and the 31-year-old Chinese man Wan Chang Chen were instantly killed a little after midnight on Bang Khan-Nong Sua Road in Khlong Luang district, Pol Lt-Colonel Sunthorn Rattanaporn of the Khlong 5 Police Station said.
The driver of the 22-wheel trailer truck, Krissana Mahasamut, 29, who waited for police at the scene, said he was driving from Pathum Thani’s Sam Khok district to deliver gas to a gas station in Khlong Luang when he dozed off behind the wheel and crashed into the pulled-over SUV. A grief-stricken relative of the deceased victim punched Krissana on the face, prompting police to intervene. The relative was charged with assault.
An eyewitness and one of the six SUV passengers said that the group was returning from a party in the Talad Thai area and heading home to Bangkok’s Yaowarat when his employee and his son-in-law pulled over to answer the call of nature. As the two men were about to get into
