Yala schoolboy stabbed to death out of jealousy
A 17-year-old schoolboy was found dead from multiple stab wounds on Wednesday after he was abducted following an argument over a teenage girl in Yala, police said.
The boy, a student at a high school in Yala's Betong district, was identified as Somkiart Termwitkhachorn.
Pol Lt Kiartiphansak Abdullah, of the Betong police station, said police are hunting for a suspect, identified as Asan Puteh 20.
Kiartiphansak said police learned form Somkiart's friend that the student and Asan were in love with the same teenage girl and Asan arranged to meet Somkiart to ask him to stop dating the girl.
Somkiart's friends said the talk ended up in a brawl before Somkiart was taken away by Asans' friends to a rubber plantation. He was found dead at the plantation at 8pm.
He had 26 wounds in his chest, back and side. The fatal wounds were apparently inflicted by a hand scraper modified to have a sharp point for use as a weapon, the police officer added.
