Work on luxury condo in Phuket ‘slowed’
Officers from Internal Security Operations Command have inspected a luxury condominium development in Kata Noi and construction has been ordered ‘slowed down’ while an investigation continues.
Business operators and locals in Kata Noi marched to protest the luxury condo construction last month.
Meanwhile, the owners of the luxury development last month insisted that the project was legal and construction would continue.
A lawyer for The Peaks Residences said: “The construction project has to be slowed down while the investigation is being conducted and our land-use and permits proven.”
Officers were also worried about foreign-buyer laws. If the land title deed cannot be issued, the construction cannot be registered as a condominium, permitting 49 per cent of the unit sales to non-Thais.
